As I continued to process what I wrote about in my last
post, I have been continuously reminded of the hope that I needed and continue
to find in a God that knows me personally.
“Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore
my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.” (Pslam 71:20)
I can only assume that this anonymous writer knew EXACTLY what I was
thinking this past week! He speaks of
such hope, that despite how bad things may get, it will not always be that
way. And I cling to that. God knows me; He knows what I’m
experiencing. He understands my pain and
my hurting; but He promises something that is far better than I could ever
dream of, and it can only be found in Him.
The same day that I read this Psalm, we had sung a song in
church which also reminded me of all this.
(Clearly music and songs speak to me a lot!) While I may be hurting still, God is
greater. He knows what He is doing; I
can find intense hope in that! You may
recognize the tune, since it is also an English song, but this is the Dutch
version:
Maak groot onze God
[Make
great our God]
Zing met mij
[Sing
with me]
Maak groot onze God
[Make
great our God]
Zing want hij
[Sing
because He…]
Is groot, zo groot, onze God
[…Is
great, so great, our God]
“As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more
and more.” –Psalm 71:14
